Frederick Coffee Company & Café celebrates 25 years this year and has been under the ownership of Mike and Terri Winder since October 2010.
They are also the owners of Frederick Fudge & Ice Cream, Shab Row Tea Emporium and GOOD juju which are located in Everedy Square Shab Row as well as The Pasta Palette on Market Street.
Mike is originally from Seattle, Washington. He started his retail career with Toys R Us when he moved to the east coast in 1985. He has been in Maryland since 1997. Terri is originally from Williamsport, Pennsylvania and graduated from Elizabethtown College with a degree in Occupational Therapy in 1986. Having worked in Maryland since 1989, she continues to be available on a limited basis for Frederick Memorial Hospital Home Health.
They met in 2002 and married in 2007. Their blended family includes Mike’s 2 adult children and 2 grandchildren, Terri’s 2 college-aged children and 2 crazy Labrador retrievers.
Mike and Terri are onsite managing the daily operations of all shops with Mike at the Everedy Square Shab Row area and Terri on Market Street.
Frederick Coffee Co. & Cafe has been open since 1991. Mike and Terri are the fourth owners. The shop was originally located at the building where Frederick Fudge and Ice Cream is now. After one year, the business took over its current location. It has a colorful history being originally a Sinclair Gas Station and also Frederick’s first video rental store. The terra cotta tile on the awning hearkens back to a time when the building was a southwestern furniture store.
Mike and Terri can’t wait to see what the future holds as they dream up new ventures to make Frederick great.
